This dataset consists of a total of seven files, for five weather station locations along the BOREAS transect in Canada. Each file contains the climate values for each month and for each year of the station's history. Variables reported include total precipitation, mean daily minimum and maximum temperature for all stations, and three solar radiation measurements for several stations. These stations are: Churchill - tundra on Hudson Bay coast Thompson - in forest, towards northern limit Flin-Flon - mid-transect Prince Albert - near southern limit of forest Medicine Hat - grassland, well to southeast of forested region. Churchill and Medicine Hat fall outside the main transect area, but within the "extended" transect. The middle three stations provide a reasonable range of conditions within the core transect. Churchill and Prince Albert stations have moved during the recording period, and are in two files. Thompson is a pretty short record. The files are in a format where each file begins with a line that contains the AES station ID number and name, latitude and longitude, and the period of record. The period of record is given in two forms: the first is the AES claim, and the second is the actual period found in the file (listed as first year, last year, then first month {of the first year} and last month {of the last year}). The second line of each file provides column headings. Always present are year, month, mean daily minimum temperature for the month (C), mean daily maximum, and total precipitation (mm). Some files may also have bright sunshine hours, sunshine hours as a percentage of daylight hours, and solar radiation (mean daily total, in MJ/sq.m). Each following line is one monthly set of values. Missing data is coded as -99.999.
